# The Nom vs Spooky Cat

The Nom and Spooky Cat both sit at 4.7 stars, but that hides the real split: 95% of Spooky Cat's written reviews are positive against 49% of The Nom's. The Nom's advantage is update cadence (weekly vs monthly) and ratings volume (23K vs 3.8K). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. The Nom sells 9 one-off in-app purchases and Spooky Cat sells 7 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Spooky Cat holds the better App Store score, 4.9 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: The Nom has 23K ratings behind it against 3.8K, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 49% of The Nom's written reviews are positive against 95% of Spooky Cat's.

The Nom ships an update weekly, Spooky Cat monthly. Both last shipped on October 25, 2026.
