# Open App vs Universal Launcher

The clearest difference is rating: Universal Launcher at 5.0 against Open App's 4.1. Universal Launcher also leads on ads (none vs shown) and monetization model (free vs ad-supported). Open App's advantage is update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 3 months) and ratings volume (12 vs 1). On price, in-app purchases and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Universal Launcher holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.1. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Open App has 12 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Open App ships an update every 2 weeks, Universal Launcher every 3 months. The most recent releases landed on October 30, 2026 and October 25, 2026 respectively.
