# Pip vs Elak

The clearest difference is ads: Elak at none against Pip's shown. Elak also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.5) and monetization model (free vs ad-supported). Pip's advantage is ratings volume (1.5K vs 1). On price, update cadence, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Elak holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Pip has 1.5K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Pip ships an update every 4 weeks, Elak every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 27, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
