# Direction vs First Step

The clearest difference is update cadence: Direction at weekly against First Step's fortnightly. Direction also leads on iOS requirement (13.0 vs 17.6). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Direction sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month and First Step sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Direction ships an update weekly, First Step fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 25, 2026 respectively.
