# Open Caption vs Habitus

The clearest difference is update cadence: Open Caption at fortnightly against Habitus's every 25 months. Open Caption also leads on iOS requirement (13.0 vs 15.1). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Open Caption sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Habitus sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Open Caption ships an update fortnightly, Habitus every 25 months. The most recent releases landed on October 7, 2026 and October 1, 2026 respectively.
