# BlackCandy vs Discrete

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: BlackCandy at none against Discrete's 3. BlackCandy also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.7) and iOS requirement (16.6 vs 18.0). Discrete's advantage is update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 24 months) and ratings volume (46 vs 1). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Discrete sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month. BlackCandy asks for nothing beyond the download.

BlackCandy holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Discrete has 46 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

BlackCandy ships an update every 24 months, Discrete every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 1, 2026 and October 14, 2026 respectively.
