# Write This vs AI Chat

The clearest difference is monetization model: AI Chat at free with in-app purchases against Write This's subscription. Write This's advantage is review sentiment (64% vs 40%) and ratings volume (2.6K vs 164). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Write This sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days and AI Chat sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.6 for Write This against 4.7 for AI Chat. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Write This has 2.6K ratings behind it against 164, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 64% of Write This's written reviews are positive against 40% of AI Chat's.

Write This ships an update weekly, AI Chat every 2 weeks. Both last shipped on November 3, 2026.
