# Metal Detector vs SubPure

The clearest difference is monetization model: SubPure at freemium against Metal Detector's subscription. SubPure also leads on ads (none vs shown) and rating (5.0 vs 4.6). Metal Detector's advantage is ratings volume (415 vs 1). On price and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Metal Detector sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per 7 days and SubPure sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

SubPure holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Metal Detector has 415 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Metal Detector ships an update every 7 months, SubPure every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 30, 2026 and October 28, 2026 respectively.
