# Seabird Reader vs Croissant

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Seabird Reader at none against Croissant's 3. Seabird Reader also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.6) and update cadence (every 5 days vs fortnightly). Croissant's advantage is ratings volume (198 vs 3) and device support (3 vs 1). On price and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Croissant sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month. Seabird Reader asks for nothing beyond the download.

Seabird Reader holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Croissant has 198 ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Seabird Reader ships an update every 5 days, Croissant fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 10, 2026 and October 14, 2026 respectively.
