# Global Currency vs Shimmer Browser

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Global Currency at 100% against Shimmer Browser's 50%. Global Currency also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 4) and iOS requirement (14.0 vs 27.0). Shimmer Browser's advantage is rating (5.0 vs 4.5) and update cadence (weekly vs every 3 months). On price, ratings volume, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Shimmer Browser sells 4 one-off in-app purchases. Global Currency asks for nothing beyond the download.

Shimmer Browser holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.5. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 4 and 2 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 100% of Global Currency's written reviews are positive against 50% of Shimmer Browser's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Global Currency ships an update every 3 months, Shimmer Browser weekly. The most recent releases landed on October 27, 2026 and October 30, 2026 respectively.
