# SynapNet vs PlacePlot

The clearest difference is update cadence: PlacePlot at every 3 days against SynapNet's fortnightly. PlacePlot also leads on iOS requirement (15.0 vs 17.6). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. SynapNet sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per year and PlacePlot sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

SynapNet ships an update fortnightly, PlacePlot every 3 days. The most recent releases landed on October 2, 2026 and September 27, 2026 respectively.
