# Gen vs 元号西暦

The clearest difference is update cadence: 元号西暦 at every 3 weeks against Gen's every 3 months. Gen's advantage is device support (3 vs 1) and iOS requirement (15.6 vs 18.0). On price, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Gen sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and 元号西暦 sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $0.49 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Gen ships an update every 3 months, 元号西暦 every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 27, 2026 and October 25, 2026 respectively.
