# Journal & Diary vs Evolve

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Journal & Diary at 86% against Evolve's 0%. Journal & Diary also leads on rating (4.8 vs 1.0) and monetization model (free with in-app purchases vs subscription). Evolve's advantage is update cadence (every 2 days vs every 2 weeks) and iOS requirement (12.1 vs 26.1). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Journal & Diary sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per 7 days and Evolve sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Journal & Diary holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 1.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Journal & Diary has 22 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 86% of Journal & Diary's written reviews are positive against 0% of Evolve's.

Journal & Diary ships an update every 2 weeks, Evolve every 2 days. Both last shipped on November 3, 2026.
