# AI Author vs Aitho

The clearest difference is monetization model: Aitho at free with in-app purchases against AI Author's subscription. Aitho also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.6) and update cadence (every 2 days vs every 2 weeks). AI Author's advantage is ratings volume (268 vs 1). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. AI Author sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per 7 days and Aitho sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $39.00 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Aitho holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: AI Author has 268 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

AI Author ships an update every 2 weeks, Aitho every 2 days. The most recent releases landed on October 2, 2026 and October 8, 2026 respectively.
