# Metal + vs JS

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: JS at none against Metal +'s 1. JS also leads on update cadence (every 4 weeks vs every 4 months). Metal +'s advantage is iOS requirement (13.0 vs 26.0). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Metal + sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. JS asks for nothing beyond the download.

Metal + ships an update every 4 months, JS every 4 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and September 26, 2026 respectively.
