# CDL Prep vs CDL PermitPro

The clearest difference is ads: CDL PermitPro at none against CDL Prep's shown. CDL PermitPro also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.6) and monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases). CDL Prep's advantage is ratings volume (3.2K vs 5) and chart position (#179 vs unranked). On price, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. CDL Prep sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $24.99 per month and CDL PermitPro sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

CDL PermitPro holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: CDL Prep has 3.2K ratings behind it against 5, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 80% of CDL Prep's written reviews are positive against 100% of CDL PermitPro's.

CDL Prep ships an update every 3 months, CDL PermitPro monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 14, 2026 and September 30, 2026 respectively.
