# ScanBoy vs Video Summarizer

The clearest difference is ads: ScanBoy at none against Video Summarizer's shown. ScanBoy also leads on review sentiment (100% vs 75%) and rating (5.0 vs 4.7). Video Summarizer's advantage is ratings volume (157 vs 4) and update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 2 months). On price, in-app purchases, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. ScanBoy sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month and Video Summarizer sells 3 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

ScanBoy holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Video Summarizer has 157 ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two. ScanBoy ships an update every 2 months, Video Summarizer every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on September 20, 2026 and October 9, 2026 respectively.
