# Lucid Reader vs Bare Reader

The clearest difference is update cadence: Bare Reader at every 5 days against Lucid Reader's fortnightly. On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Lucid Reader sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Bare Reader sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Lucid Reader ships an update fortnightly, Bare Reader every 5 days. The most recent releases landed on October 27, 2026 and October 25, 2026 respectively.
