# Slog vs NIPS

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: NIPS at none against Slog's 4. NIPS also leads on iOS requirement (13.0 vs 15.6). Slog's advantage is update cadence (fortnightly vs every 5 months). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Slog sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month. NIPS asks for nothing beyond the download.

Slog ships an update fortnightly, NIPS every 5 months. The most recent releases landed on October 25, 2026 and October 16, 2026 respectively.
