# Starchess vs Trilayer

The clearest difference is update cadence: Trilayer at every 3 weeks against Starchess's every 4 months. Starchess's advantage is device support (4 vs 1) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 18.0). On price, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Starchess ships an update every 4 months, Trilayer every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on September 28, 2026 and October 7, 2026 respectively.
