# Boiling Waters vs Friendster

The clearest difference is ads: Friendster at none against Boiling Waters's shown. Friendster also leads on ratings volume (48 vs 1) and update cadence (every 3 days vs every 2 weeks). On price, rating, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Boiling Waters sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Friendster sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.0 for Boiling Waters against 4.1 for Friendster. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Friendster has 48 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Boiling Waters ships an update every 2 weeks, Friendster every 3 days. The most recent releases landed on September 23, 2026 and October 15, 2026 respectively.
