# StepsMate Step Counter vs Steps

The clearest difference is rating: Steps at 5.0 against StepsMate Step Counter's 4.5. Steps also leads on ads (none vs shown) and monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases). StepsMate Step Counter's advantage is ratings volume (13 vs 1). On price, update cadence, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. StepsMate Step Counter sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month and Steps sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
