# Precious Pixels vs Screen Recorder

The clearest difference is rating: Screen Recorder at 4.6 against Precious Pixels's 4.0. Screen Recorder also leads on ratings volume (128 vs 1). Precious Pixels's advantage is monetization model (free with in-app purchases vs subscription) and update cadence (every 2 days vs every 5 months). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Precious Pixels sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $4.99 per month and Screen Recorder sells 8 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Screen Recorder holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Screen Recorder has 128 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Precious Pixels ships an update every 2 days, Screen Recorder every 5 months. The most recent releases landed on September 16, 2026 and October 27, 2026 respectively.
