# PremierVPN vs Acorn VPN

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Acorn VPN at none against PremierVPN's 8. Acorn VPN also leads on review sentiment (100% vs 78%) and update cadence (every 9 days vs every 6 weeks). PremierVPN's advantage is ads (none vs shown). On price, rating and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. PremierVPN sells 8 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month. Acorn VPN asks for nothing beyond the download.

PremierVPN holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Acorn VPN has 12 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 78% of PremierVPN's written reviews are positive against 100% of Acorn VPN's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

PremierVPN ships an update every 6 weeks, Acorn VPN every 9 days. The most recent releases landed on October 25, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
