# Text With Jesus vs Risen

The clearest difference is monetization model: Text With Jesus at free with in-app purchases against Risen's subscription. Text With Jesus also leads on ratings volume (3.9K vs 110) and device support (3 vs 1). Risen's advantage is ads (none vs shown). On price, rating, update cadence and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Text With Jesus sells 15 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month and Risen sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $6.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Risen holds the better App Store score, 4.9 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Text With Jesus has 3.9K ratings behind it against 110, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Text With Jesus ships an update weekly, Risen every 10 days. The most recent releases landed on October 30, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
