# Cretapedia vs Read

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Read at none against Cretapedia's 11. Read also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.6). Cretapedia's advantage is ratings volume (1.7K vs 3) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 18.6). On price, update cadence, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Cretapedia sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $13.99 per month. Read asks for nothing beyond the download.

Read holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Cretapedia has 1.7K ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Cretapedia ships an update monthly, Read every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 22, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
