# Notepad vs Notes

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Notes at none against Notepad's 1. Notes also leads on update cadence (every 11 days vs every 11 months) and ratings volume (14 vs 1). Notepad's advantage is rating (5.0 vs 4.8). On price, ads, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Notepad sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Notes asks for nothing beyond the download.

Notepad holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Notes has 14 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Notepad ships an update every 11 months, Notes every 11 days. The most recent releases landed on October 2, 2026 and October 5, 2026 respectively.
