# Handwriting Fontmaker vs Fonts

The clearest difference is rating: Fonts at 4.5 against Handwriting Fontmaker's 2.3. Fonts also leads on review sentiment (71% vs 33%) and ratings volume (1.4K vs 6). Handwriting Fontmaker's advantage is update cadence (every 2 days vs every 5 weeks). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Handwriting Fontmaker sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $6.99 per 7 days and Fonts sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $5.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Fonts holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 2.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Fonts has 1.4K ratings behind it against 6, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 33% of Handwriting Fontmaker's written reviews are positive against 71% of Fonts's.

Handwriting Fontmaker ships an update every 2 days, Fonts every 5 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 27, 2026 respectively.
