# Snake Cat vs Sky Islands

The clearest difference is rating: Sky Islands at 4.2 against Snake Cat's 3.0. Sky Islands also leads on ratings volume (25 vs 2) and update cadence (every 9 days vs every 3 weeks). Snake Cat's advantage is ads (none vs shown). On price, review sentiment, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Snake Cat sells 8 one-off in-app purchases and Sky Islands sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Sky Islands holds the better App Store score, 4.2 against 3.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Sky Islands has 25 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 50% of Snake Cat's written reviews are positive against 47% of Sky Islands's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Snake Cat ships an update every 3 weeks, Sky Islands every 9 days. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 21, 2026 respectively.
