# Speed Reader vs SwiftRead

The clearest difference is update cadence: SwiftRead at every 9 days against Speed Reader's every 2 months. SwiftRead also leads on rating (4.1 vs 3.8) and review sentiment (85% vs 75%). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Speed Reader sells 7 one-off in-app purchases and SwiftRead sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $19.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

SwiftRead holds the better App Store score, 4.1 against 3.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: SwiftRead has 35 ratings behind it against 6, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 75% of Speed Reader's written reviews are positive against 85% of SwiftRead's.

Speed Reader ships an update every 2 months, SwiftRead every 9 days. The most recent releases landed on October 17, 2026 and October 15, 2026 respectively.
