# Speed Reader vs RR

The clearest difference is rating: RR at 5.0 against Speed Reader's 3.8. RR also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 7) and device support (4 vs 2). Speed Reader's advantage is update cadence (every 2 months vs every 14 months) and ratings volume (6 vs 1). On price and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Speed Reader sells 7 one-off in-app purchases. RR asks for nothing beyond the download.

RR holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 3.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Speed Reader has 6 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Speed Reader ships an update every 2 months, RR every 14 months. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 9, 2026 respectively.
