# HAL vs DHD

The clearest difference is price: HAL at Free against DHD's $0.99. HAL also leads on rating (3.5 vs 3.0) and ratings volume (11 vs 1). DHD's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 2 months). On in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

HAL is free to download; DHD costs $0.99 up front. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

HAL holds the better App Store score, 3.5 against 3.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: HAL has 11 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

HAL ships an update every 2 months, DHD every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 22, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
