# Alan vs WatcherTV

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Alan at none against WatcherTV's 4. Alan also leads on update cadence (monthly vs every 3 months) and iOS requirement (12.0 vs 16.0). WatcherTV's advantage is ratings volume (1.2K vs 2). On price, rating, review sentiment and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. WatcherTV sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $5.99 per month. Alan asks for nothing beyond the download.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 5.0 for Alan against 5.0 for WatcherTV. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: WatcherTV has 1.2K ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews split almost evenly too, at 100% and 100% positive.

Alan ships an update monthly, WatcherTV every 3 months. The most recent releases landed on October 14, 2026 and October 15, 2026 respectively.
