# Plane Notes vs Writing Shed Pro

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Writing Shed Pro at 100% against Plane Notes's 46%. Writing Shed Pro also leads on ads (none vs shown). Plane Notes's advantage is rating (4.6 vs 4.0) and ratings volume (100 vs 1). On price, update cadence, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Plane Notes sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Writing Shed Pro sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Plane Notes holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Plane Notes has 100 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 46% of Plane Notes's written reviews are positive against 100% of Writing Shed Pro's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Plane Notes ships an update every 2 days, Writing Shed Pro every 3 days. The most recent releases landed on October 31, 2026 and October 30, 2026 respectively.
