# App Lock vs App Blocker

The clearest difference is monetization model: App Blocker at free with in-app purchases against App Lock's subscription. App Blocker also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.5). App Lock's advantage is ratings volume (5.3K vs 1). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. App Lock sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month and App Blocker sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

App Blocker holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: App Lock has 5.3K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

App Lock ships an update fortnightly, App Blocker weekly. The most recent releases landed on November 3, 2026 and October 31, 2026 respectively.
