# MagBak vs Transparent Labs

The clearest difference is ads: Transparent Labs at none against MagBak's shown. Transparent Labs also leads on review sentiment (73% vs 44%) and ratings volume (3.5K vs 610). MagBak's advantage is monetization model (ad-supported vs free with in-app purchases). On price, rating, update cadence and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.8 for MagBak against 4.9 for Transparent Labs. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Transparent Labs has 3.5K ratings behind it against 610, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 44% of MagBak's written reviews are positive against 73% of Transparent Labs's.

Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly monthly. Both last shipped on November 3, 2026.
