# MagBak vs Olight

The clearest difference is rating: MagBak at 4.8 against Olight's 4.2. MagBak also leads on review sentiment (44% vs 30%) and monetization model (ad-supported vs free with in-app purchases). Olight's advantage is update cadence (every 2 weeks vs monthly). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

MagBak holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.2. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: MagBak has 610 ratings behind it against 70, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 44% of MagBak's written reviews are positive against 30% of Olight's.

MagBak ships an update monthly, Olight every 2 weeks. Both last shipped on October 18, 2026.
