# VRChat vs grid

VRChat and grid both sit at 4.4 stars, but that hides the real split: 87% of grid's written reviews are positive against 46% of VRChat's. VRChat's advantage is ratings volume (3.3K vs 18) and update cadence (weekly vs every 3 weeks). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. VRChat sells 12 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month and grid sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $7.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.4 for VRChat against 4.6 for grid. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: VRChat has 3.3K ratings behind it against 18, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 46% of VRChat's written reviews are positive against 87% of grid's.

VRChat ships an update weekly, grid every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 27, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
