# LockOn vs Secure VPN ・ Private Internet

The clearest difference is rating: LockOn at 4.5 against Secure VPN ・ Private Internet's 3.0. LockOn also leads on update cadence (every 2 days vs every 10 days) and ratings volume (263 vs 30). Secure VPN ・ Private Internet's advantage is iOS requirement (13.0 vs 15.0). On price, review sentiment, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. LockOn sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per 7 days and Secure VPN ・ Private Internet sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $8.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

LockOn holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 3.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: LockOn has 263 ratings behind it against 30, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 86% of LockOn's written reviews are positive against 92% of Secure VPN ・ Private Internet's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

LockOn ships an update every 2 days, Secure VPN ・ Private Internet every 10 days. Both last shipped on November 3, 2026.
