# starmatch vs Sum Puff

The clearest difference is monetization model: Sum Puff at freemium against starmatch's subscription. Sum Puff also leads on rating (4.5 vs 4.3). starmatch's advantage is review sentiment (33% vs 9%) and ratings volume (3.5K vs 517). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. starmatch sells 13 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days and Sum Puff sells 16 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Sum Puff holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 4.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: starmatch has 3.5K ratings behind it against 517, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 33% of starmatch's written reviews are positive against 9% of Sum Puff's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

starmatch ships an update every 5 days, Sum Puff every 8 days. The most recent releases landed on October 27, 2026 and October 25, 2026 respectively.
