# Data Guard vs VPN Defendr+

The clearest difference is ads: VPN Defendr+ at none against Data Guard's shown. VPN Defendr+ also leads on rating (4.3 vs 4.1). Data Guard's advantage is update cadence (monthly vs every 6 months) and ratings volume (733 vs 218). On price, review sentiment, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Data Guard sells 9 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per 7 days and VPN Defendr+ sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $6.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

VPN Defendr+ holds the better App Store score, 4.3 against 4.1. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 733 and 218 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 47% of Data Guard's written reviews are positive against 40% of VPN Defendr+'s, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Data Guard ships an update monthly, VPN Defendr+ every 6 months. The most recent releases landed on October 6, 2026 and October 7, 2026 respectively.
