# Secure VPN ・ Private Internet vs PrivateSentry

The clearest difference is rating: PrivateSentry at 3.9 against Secure VPN ・ Private Internet's 3.0. PrivateSentry also leads on ratings volume (168 vs 30). Secure VPN ・ Private Internet's advantage is review sentiment (92% vs 60%) and device support (3 vs 1). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Secure VPN ・ Private Internet sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $8.99 per 7 days and PrivateSentry sells 7 in-app purchases, starting at $7.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

PrivateSentry holds the better App Store score, 3.9 against 3.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: PrivateSentry has 168 ratings behind it against 30, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 92% of Secure VPN ・ Private Internet's written reviews are positive against 60% of PrivateSentry's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Secure VPN ・ Private Internet ships an update every 10 days, PrivateSentry weekly. The most recent releases landed on October 8, 2026 and October 6, 2026 respectively.
