# Smart IV vs Torn Tools

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Torn Tools at none against Smart IV's 1. Torn Tools also leads on ads (none vs shown) and review sentiment (67% vs 40%). Smart IV's advantage is ratings volume (1.2K vs 5) and rating (4.5 vs 4.2). On price and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Smart IV sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $1.99 per month. Torn Tools asks for nothing beyond the download.

Smart IV holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 4.2. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Smart IV has 1.2K ratings behind it against 5, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 40% of Smart IV's written reviews are positive against 67% of Torn Tools's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Smart IV ships an update every 8 days, Torn Tools every 6 weeks. The most recent releases landed on November 3, 2026 and November 4, 2026 respectively.
