# MAPPING vs Data Protector

The clearest difference is ads: MAPPING at none against Data Protector's shown. Data Protector's advantage is device support (3 vs 1) and iOS requirement (14.0 vs 16.0). On price, update cadence and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. MAPPING sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month and Data Protector sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

MAPPING ships an update every 6 weeks, Data Protector monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 19, 2026 and October 8, 2026 respectively.
