# UV Index vs AmberMap

The clearest difference is ads: AmberMap at none against UV Index's shown. AmberMap also leads on iOS requirement (15.1 vs 17.0). UV Index's advantage is update cadence (every 5 days vs fortnightly). On price, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. UV Index sells 24 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per 7 days and AmberMap sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $7.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

UV Index ships an update every 5 days, AmberMap fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 27, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
