# Stem Split vs Music Separator AI

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Stem Split at 100% against Music Separator AI's 0%. Music Separator AI's advantage is rating (4.3 vs 2.3) and update cadence (every 2 months vs every 17 months). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Stem Split sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Music Separator AI sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $7.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Music Separator AI holds the better App Store score, 4.3 against 2.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Music Separator AI has 44 ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 100% of Stem Split's written reviews are positive against 0% of Music Separator AI's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Stem Split ships an update every 17 months, Music Separator AI every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 2, 2026 and October 11, 2026 respectively.
