# The Bear vs Bad Roads

The clearest difference is rating: The Bear at 4.6 against Bad Roads's 4.0. The Bear also leads on ads (none vs shown) and update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 4 months). Bad Roads's advantage is review sentiment (100% vs 78%). On price, in-app purchases, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. The Bear sells 4 one-off in-app purchases and Bad Roads sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

The Bear holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: The Bear has 1.1K ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 78% of The Bear's written reviews are positive against 100% of Bad Roads's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

The Bear ships an update every 2 weeks, Bad Roads every 4 months. The most recent releases landed on October 18, 2026 and October 3, 2026 respectively.
