# Color Notes vs NotedUp

The clearest difference is ads: NotedUp at none against Color Notes's shown. NotedUp also leads on monetization model (free vs ad-supported). Color Notes's advantage is ratings volume (8 vs 1). On price, rating, update cadence and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 5.0 for Color Notes against 5.0 for NotedUp. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Color Notes has 8 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Color Notes ships an update every 3 months, NotedUp every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 3, 2026 and October 2, 2026 respectively.
