# OpenCut vs Action

The clearest difference is price: OpenCut at Free against Action's $0.99. OpenCut also leads on update cadence (fortnightly vs every 7 months) and ratings volume (3 vs 1). Action's advantage is rating (5.0 vs 1.3) and iOS requirement (15.0 vs 17.0). On ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

OpenCut is free to download; Action costs $0.99 up front. OpenCut sells 10 one-off in-app purchases and Action sells 2 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Action holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 1.3. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 3 and 1 respectively.

OpenCut ships an update fortnightly, Action every 7 months. The most recent releases landed on October 13, 2026 and October 14, 2026 respectively.
