# Namey vs YapThread

The clearest difference is rating: Namey at 5.0 against YapThread's 4.5. Namey also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 3) and iOS requirement (14.0 vs 16.0). YapThread's advantage is update cadence (every 2 days vs every 2 months) and ratings volume (28 vs 1). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. YapThread sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per 7 days. Namey asks for nothing beyond the download.

Namey holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: YapThread has 28 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Namey ships an update every 2 months, YapThread every 2 days. The most recent releases landed on October 14, 2026 and October 16, 2026 respectively.
